Sharjah24: Rowing will make its official debut at the eighth Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2026), with competitions scheduled for Monday, 9 February, at Al Hamriyah Beach. Organised by Sharjah Women’s Sports, the tournament runs from 2 to 12 February across the Emirate of Sharjah, bringing together 63 teams from 16 Arab countries across nine individual and team sports.

The inaugural rowing competitions will feature seven teams representing seven Arab nations: Sharjah Women’s Sports Club (UAE), Al Bahri Sports Club (Kuwait), the Saudi Team (Saudi Arabia), Maadi Yacht Club (Egypt), Al Bahri Club – Rabat Beach (Morocco), Tabarka Association for Marine Sports and Fishing (Tunisia), and Mogadishu Rowing and Canoeing Club (Somalia).

Venues and preparations

Official races will be held at Al Hamriyah Beach, while team training sessions will be held at Al Hamriyah Cultural & Sports Club. Authorities confirmed that all operational, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements have been met to ensure the smooth delivery of the competition.

Expanding women’s sport

Sharjah Women’s Sports invited the public to attend the races and support Arab female athletes. Full schedules and timings are available on the tournament’s official website.
