Sharjah 24: Underwater photographer Ali bin Thalith shared some fascinating insights about how light behaves when it reaches the ocean, during his participation in the 10th edition of Xposure International Photography Festival.

It takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds for sunlight to travel from the sun to Earth. Once it enters the water, the colors we see start to change. For example, red light disappears quickly within the first 3 meters, followed by orange, then yellow, and by the time you go down to about 30 meters, everything tends to look blue. He pointed out that understanding these changes in color is important for anyone wanting to capture beautiful underwater photos.

In an interview with “Sharjah 24,” Bin Thalith also talked about a unique photography technique called "Dark Water" photography. This method allows photographers to discover and capture amazing creatures that aren't commonly seen in books or movies. To do this, photographers often hang from a boat in deep water, using special lighting to illuminate their surroundings. However, this method can be quite risky due to the open sea environment.
