Sharjah 24: The 10th edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival, called "Xposure 2026," recently wrapped up with an exciting session titled "Photographs Through Children's Eyes." This event, organized by the Hadara Platform, featured a group from the Sharjah Children's Shura Council. It provided a unique opportunity for children to share their thoughts and feelings about photography, highlighting it as a way to express themselves and connect with others.

During the session, the children spoke to "Sharjah 24" about how they see photography as a universal language that goes beyond words. They explained that every photograph tells a story and evokes different emotions, shaped by personal experiences and cultural backgrounds.

The young participants discussed how photography helps them understand their national identity by capturing the sights and heritage of their country. They believe that taking pictures strengthens their sense of belonging and helps them appreciate their culture and history. Photography, they said, sparks their creativity and imagination, allowing them to explore the world and learn new things through images.

The children expressed their gratitude for "Xposure," stating it has become an inspiring educational platform. They enjoyed the chance to voice their perspectives, share their dreams, and contribute to their community, which they take pride in. They mentioned that the wise guidance of their leaders encourages them to dream big.

Throughout the session, the participants presented themselves as storytellers and image interpreters rather than just passive viewers. Their insights showed a deep understanding of how visuals work and the importance of engaging young people in meaningful conversations.

They emphasized that images are powerful forms of expression that can be understood by everyone, regardless of language, because they resonate with shared human experiences. Every person sees an image uniquely, influenced by their life, age, and culture, which highlights photography's ability to convey feelings directly.

The children highlighted the beauty of visual storytelling in understanding their country's landmarks, heritage, and traditions, making it easier for them to connect with important values of belonging, love, respect, and responsibility. They believe that photographs help them grasp their nation's history in a significant way.

During the session, participants showcased famous photographs from around the world, such as cherry blossoms in Japan, the Statue of Liberty in New York, and camel caravans in front of the Egyptian pyramids. These images illustrate how a single photo can capture the essence of a place, its history, and its identity.

At the end of the session, the Chairman of the Sharjah Children's Shura Council expressed pride in the council's mission to empower children to express their thoughts and opinions. He thanked "Xposure" for recognizing the creative potential in children's photography as a reflection of their minds and imaginations.
