At its regular meeting, chaired by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, the Council endorsed the establishment of a legal committee to study and draft a new law to reorganise the Council within a three-month timeframe. The committee will be chaired by Dr Abdullah Mohammed bin Mulaaih.
A second committee, dedicated to fan awareness and engagement, was approved for a five-month period under the chairmanship of Dr Saif Ahmed Al Zaabi, with a focus on promoting positive spectator culture and strengthening community engagement with sport.
The third committee will focus on activating and developing sports facilities across the emirate. Chaired by Dr Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Yasi, the committee will operate for three months to maximise the use and efficiency of existing sports infrastructure.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, 28 January, at the House of Wisdom, was attended by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Secretary-General, and board members. Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi praised the efforts of football club company chairmen, stressing the importance of unified visions and strong partnerships with the Council.
He also proposed launching a programme to encourage authorship, translation, and publishing in sports-related fields, supported by awards for outstanding researchers. Discussions also covered the need for each club to adopt an approved statute, a project to regulate equestrian and horse-racing activities, ideas for developing the Kalba Beach Games, and a review of a detailed report on the Referee Programme and its recent achievements.
