Sharjah 24 – AFPL Portugal prepared for additional heavy rainfall as the country continues to recover from Storm Kristin, which struck earlier this week and claimed five lives. Authorities warned the public to stay alert as the storm’s impact remains severe.

Power outages persist

As of Saturday, around 200,000 customers were still without electricity, mainly in central Portugal. The Leiria district was hardest hit, with storm damage to power poles and high-voltage lines.

Authorities prepare for continued disruption

The national weather agency IPMA placed all mainland regions on alert for heavy rain through Monday. Generators have been deployed to support hospitals, water systems, and telecommunications, while local officials appealed for volunteers to repair roofs before more rain arrives.
