The event, organised by Cairo University’s College of Agriculture under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, welcomed over 2,500 students from Egyptian, Arab, and African universities with support from Egypt’s Future Development Authority for Sustainable Growth.
Cultural exchange
The opening ceremony featured university and diplomatic leaders alongside cultural and artistic presentations, including a parade of participating delegations and a striking Pharaonic display. The session concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields among the universities involved.
Practical learning and skill-building
For the students of UODH, the programme was more than a conference—it was an opportunity to step into real-world agricultural practice. They worked alongside experts, applied techniques they had studied in class, and observed field operations up close. Many students said the experience gave them a clearer sense of how theory translates into practice and prepared them for careers in agriculture.
Collaboration and sustainable development
Professor Aisha Ahmed Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Dhaid, said the university encourages its students to take part in initiatives that broaden their horizons. “These programmes allow our students to engage with peers from across the region, exchange ideas, and see firsthand how sustainable agricultural practices are implemented elsewhere,” she explained, emphasising that such experiences strengthen both academic growth and professional readiness. She added that they prepare students to meet the demands of sustainable development and regional job markets.
Regional student participation
The programme attracted student delegations from several Arab and African countries, including the UAE (represented by UODH), Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Senegal, Malawi, and others, creating a platform for cross-cultural learning and professional exchange.
