During the visit, attendees observed the atmosphere of the initiative and its accompanying activities, which aim to host community members and institutions while encouraging positive interaction with the residents of the home. The initiative seeks to break social isolation and strengthen a sense of belonging among the elderly. Attendees also engaged in friendly conversations with the residents, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in supporting their psychological and social wellbeing.
Maryam Al Qatari, Director of the Sharjah Elderly Care Home, affirmed that the “Khattar Al-Dar” initiative embodies the department’s vision of fostering community partnerships and promoting social responsibility towards the elderly. She noted that Ramadan presents an ideal opportunity to implement humanitarian initiatives that reflect the UAE community’s enduring values of care and connection.
Al Qatari praised the community’s efforts and engagement with the initiative, emphasising the importance of continuing these distinguished programmes to strengthen intergenerational bonds and enhance the quality of life for senior citizens.
