Sharjah 24: Dr Salem Al Doobi, Director of the Religious Guidance Department at the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah, has said that reciting the Qunoot supplication aloud during prayers is permitted when the community faces hardship.

He pointed to the Quranic verse, “O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you", noting that the practice draws directly from the example of the Prophet.

He added that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would turn to Qunoot during congregational prayers in moments of difficulty, seeking Allah’s help and relief for the Muslim community.

Dr Al Doobi encouraged the community to pray sincerely to Allah, beseeching His protection over the nation, its leadership, and the broader Muslim community from all forms of conflict, whether apparent or concealed.

He also prayed for lasting safety and stability, beseeching Allah to prevent those who seek to harm others, to eliminate jealousy, and to restrain wrongdoers from committing evil acts.
