In this context, Dr Issa Saif Ahmed bin Hanzel, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs, announced the department’s full readiness to receive large numbers of worshippers for Eid Al Fitr prayers. A total of 693 mosques have been designated across various cities and regions of the emirate to provide a well-organised and spiritually serene environment for performing the prayer.
The Chairman explained that the designated mosques have been geographically distributed to cover all areas of the emirate: 445 mosques in Sharjah City and Al Hamriyah, 143 mosques in the Central Region, and 105 mosques in the Eastern Region. This distribution aims to facilitate access for worshippers and enable them to perform Eid prayers in mosques close to their residences.
Bin Hanzel affirmed that the department has completed mosque readiness through a series of comprehensive preparations, including general cleaning, preventive maintenance, upgrading sound systems, and preparing mosque facilities to accommodate large numbers of worshippers while ensuring a comfortable, safe, and spiritually uplifting environment.
He added that the department has coordinated with several government entities in the emirate, including Sharjah Police and Sharjah Municipality, to enhance field readiness, organise the movement of worshippers, and ensure the highest levels of safety and comfort during Eid prayers.
As part of its commitment to inclusive religious services, the department has allocated a number of mosques to deliver the Eid sermon in multiple languages for non-Arabic speakers, including Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, and English.
Bin Hanzel stated that Eid Al Fitr prayers will be held at 6:39 AM in Sharjah City and Al Hamriyah, at 6:38 AM in Al Dhaid and Al Bataeh, and in Al Madam and Mleiha, while in the Eastern Region prayers will be held at 6:37 AM.
