Sharjah24: As part of its commitment to reinforcing safety and tranquillity in residential areas and public roads, Sharjah Police confirmed that strict measures are being taken against vehicles and motorcycles causing noise and disturbance, in order to curb negative behaviour and enhance traffic discipline.

Sharjah Police explained that the operations centre has received numerous complaints from community members regarding ongoing disturbances caused by some vehicles and motorcycles, which contradict public safety and peace requirements. It confirmed that such cases are dealt with through deterrent measures that may extend to vehicle confiscation.

Ensuring community safety

Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal Al Shamsi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Operations and Security Support, stated that seizure and confiscation procedures fall within the force’s national responsibility and ongoing efforts to preserve community security and ensure residents’ comfort in both residential areas and public roads.

Rejecting negative behaviour

Al Shamsi noted that some vehicle and motorcycle owners—particularly among youth—continue to violate laws and regulations, causing disturbance in residential neighbourhoods and public streets through noisy vehicles or those fitted with illegal modifications. He stressed that such behaviour is unacceptable, disrupts public tranquillity, and will not be tolerated, adding that legal action will be firmly enforced. Field efforts will also continue through intensified inspection campaigns, monitoring violations, and taking necessary action.

Role of families in awareness

Brigadier Al Ghazal Al Shamsi called on parents to fulfil their responsibilities by monitoring their children’s behaviour and raising awareness about the risks and legal consequences of such actions. He emphasised the importance of the family’s role in guiding children towards positive behaviour, promoting awareness of maintaining quiet in residential areas and public roads, and avoiding actions that may disturb others or disrupt public peace.
