The award was launched in response to the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who tasked the Arab Theatre Institute with establishing a platform to honour outstanding young Arab theatre talent.
Ismail Abdullah, Secretary General of the Arab Theatre Institute, said: “This generous gesture reinforces our commitment to the vital role of youth in shaping the present and future of theatre. We aim to make this award a source of hope and action, establishing it as an annual recognition for outstanding young practitioners.”
The award is open to Arab theatre artists aged 30 to 40, encompassing actors, writers, directors, designers, and theatre critics. For the inaugural edition, applications focused on three fields: writing, directing, and acting. Applicants were required to submit at least three documented works demonstrating originality, consistent activity, artistic contribution, and relevance to Arab society. Works violating human rights, intellectual property laws, or containing racist or derogatory content are disqualified.

Applications closed on August 6, 2026. Winners will be announced on November 6, 2026, with the awards presented at the 17th Arab Theatre Festival on January 16, 2027.
