Sharjah 24: An Emirati refereeing team, led by international referee Omar Al Ali, has been selected to officiate at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled for next June across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The team also includes international assistant referee Mohammed Ahmed Yousef and video assistant referee (VAR) Mohammed Obaid. This will be Omar Al Ali’s first appearance at a World Cup finals.

The selection comes in recognition of the team’s outstanding performances in recent tournaments, earning them a place on football’s biggest global stage. The 2026 edition will feature 48 teams, marking the largest World Cup in history.
