Sharjah 24 — Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA), on Thursday inaugurated an ice factory at the Khorfakkan Fishermen's Cooperative Society as part of the authority's ongoing efforts to support local fishermen and develop the fisheries sector.

Abu Ghazin told Sharjah 24 that the factory will provide fishermen with a reliable, round-the-clock supply of ice to keep their catch fresh and in good condition—cutting down on spoilage and waste and getting better quality fish to local markets faster.

Cutting costs, raising standards

The factory has been fitted with the latest ice-making technology to guarantee consistent production and a dependable supply chain. Abu Ghazin noted that beyond preserving quality, the facility will ease the operational expenses borne by fishermen on a daily basis, improve overall efficiency across the sector, and strengthen the contribution of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority to the emirate's food security.

"These projects reflect the wise leadership's constant dedication to supporting our fishermen and safeguarding food security in Sharjah," he said.

A tribute to the ruler's vision

Abu Ghazin closed by expressing his deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his continuous support of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and his steadfast dedication to delivering development projects that serve the fishing community and reinforce the emirate's food security system.
