Sharjah24: His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), stated that the Council approved, during its 14th general session as part of the third ordinary session of the 11th legislative term, on Thursday the draft law regulating the University of Arts in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Al Hammadi explained in statements to Sharjah 24 that members of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee studied the articles of the law in detail. Several amendments were introduced in the interests of the project and discussed during the session with government representatives. All of them received government approval.

Structure of the law

He noted that the draft law comprises 18 articles, with amendments to certain provisions relating to the powers of the university director and the directors of the academies covered by the law, namely the Visual Academy and the Performing Academy.

Cultural and academic vision

Al Hammadi expressed hope that the university will become a distinguished academic institution, adding to Sharjah’s educational and cultural institutions and supporting the emirate’s growing reputation in higher education and the arts.
