Sharjah24: As part of efforts to enhance technological awareness, 47 students aged 14 and above from the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation participated in a specialised artificial intelligence training course, delivered in cooperation with students from the American University of Sharjah. The course was conducted remotely via video conferencing under the “Teach with a Pen” initiative, which supports the education of affiliated children. It aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its real-life applications, while developing their technical thinking skills and enhancing their readiness for the digital future.

Strong student engagement and interactive learning

The course witnessed remarkable student engagement, featuring practical activities and simplified exercises that helped clarify technical concepts and opened new horizons for exploring innovation and technology within a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Empowering children through technology education

Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department at the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, said:

“Organising this course is part of our ongoing efforts to empower children intellectually and professionally and to enhance their awareness of modern technologies. It also highlights the importance of providing quality educational opportunities that contribute to building their capabilities and preparing them for a future that increasingly relies on technology and innovation.”

Al Hamdi added: “We value the constructive cooperation with volunteers from the American University of Sharjah, which represents an effective model of community partnership that contributes to knowledge transfer and the exchange of experiences. This positively impacts the development of students’ skills and enhances their opportunities to explore promising educational and career paths in advanced technology fields.”

Community partnership and future-focused skills

Aisha Hassan Al Raisi, Senior Director of Community Service and Student Leadership at the American University of Sharjah, stated:

“The community partnership between the American University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation represents a successful and effective model in serving the community and promoting social solidarity. In this context, university volunteers organised a specialised artificial intelligence course for students of the Foundation, aiming to introduce them to the latest developments in this vital field and to develop their technical skills to meet future demands.”

She added: “This initiative is part of the efforts of the university’s Community Service and Corporate Communications Department, which is committed to utilising the academic expertise and practical skills of university students to serve the community, empower its members, and enhance their opportunities for learning and development.”

Continued commitment to empowerment

The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation continues to deliver high-quality programmes that support the academic and skills-based empowerment of children, keeping pace with rapid developments and strengthening their ability to confidently and independently shape their future.
