Sharjah 24: Leicester City have suffered a second successive relegation and will play next season in the English third tier of football, ten years after their shock Premier League title triumph under Jamie Vardy, Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Frenchman N’Golo Kanté.

Relegation confirmed after draw

Leicester were held to a 2–2 draw at home to Hull City, a result that confirmed their drop to League One, a competition they have only featured in once before, during the 2008–09 season.

Points situation sealed fate

The “Foxes” moved on to 42 points, but can no longer mathematically catch Blackburn Rovers, the lowest side outside the relegation zone in 21st place on 49 points, with two rounds remaining.

Joined by Sheffield Wednesday

Leicester join Sheffield Wednesday, bottom of the Championship, who were relegated in February after being deducted 18 points.
