The agreement was signed in the presence of officials from both sides. University of Al Dhaid was represented by Dr Aisha Abu Shlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Al Dhaid, while the Sharjah Archaeology Authority was represented by its Director-General, Issa Yousif.
The MoU seeks to enhance joint collaboration in academic and research fields, while coordinating efforts to develop academic programmes and train personnel using modern technologies. This is expected to support institutional work and contribute to development across the Emirate of Sharjah.
The agreement also establishes a general framework for cooperation, including the development of scientific initiatives and academic programmes, exchange of expertise and resources, and the organisation of scientific events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops. It further emphasises support for scientific research and increased student participation in specialised applied activities.
During the signing ceremony, Dr Aisha Abu Shlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Al Dhaid, stated that the agreement reflects the university’s commitment to delivering high-quality education aligned with labour market needs. She noted that the partnership aims to provide practical learning opportunities, strengthen student involvement in research projects, and equip them with both scientific and practical skills to enhance their professional readiness.
She added that the university is working to develop modern academic programmes and create a learning environment that fosters innovation, contributing to the preparation of qualified national talent capable of contributing effectively across various sectors.
Issa Yousif, Director-General of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, highlighted that the agreement aligns with the authority’s efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships with academic institutions. He noted that this will support scientific research and the development of national expertise in archaeology and cultural heritage.
He described the agreement as an important step towards applying academic knowledge in archaeological work through the exchange of expertise and implementation of joint programmes. These initiatives will help prepare students and researchers while promoting awareness of cultural heritage and its role in reinforcing national identity.
He added that the authority continues to build effective partnerships with educational and research institutions, supporting its mission to preserve archaeological heritage and strengthen Sharjah’s position as a leading centre for archaeological and cultural studies at both regional and international levels.
The memorandum reflects both parties’ commitment to unifying efforts through joint work and activating scientific and awareness programmes that will have a tangible impact locally and regionally.
