Highlighting the architectural memory of Arab cities
Lebanese architect George Arbid, curator of the exhibition "A Journey Through the Archives of Architecture: Baghdad, Damascus, Tunis," announced the launch of the exhibition, organised by the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, on Saturday morning at Al Qasimia School. The exhibition features archival materials, models, and documentary works that highlight the architectural memory of Arab cities and offer a re-examination of their urban development across different historical periods.
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, George Arabid explained that the exhibition offers an in-depth critical and visual reading of the architectural memory in three Arab capitals, highlighting their urban development through significant historical milestones. The exhibition reviews the memory of existing buildings and their authenticity through a rich archive that tells the story of the cities and their social and structural transformations, during his travels in 3 cities and his meetings with engineers, architects and evaluators of existing projects or projects that participated in architectural competitions during a period of time.
