Sharjah 24 – WAM: The UAE Committee for Sports Talent Development and National Sports Support has closed registration for the inaugural Sharjah Shooting Talents Championship, scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday at Sharjah Sports Club.The championship is organised in cooperation with the UAE Shooting Federation and with the support of the Ministry of Sports.

The committee announced that 120 male and female shooters of various nationalities and skill levels have registered for the 12-16 age group, competing in 10-meter air rifle and air pistol events for both beginners and professionals.

UAE sports officials highlight talent development vision

His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary for Sports Development and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Committee for Sports Talent Development and National Sports Support, affirmed that the overwhelming response to the championship reflects the success of the UAE's vision in supporting high-quality sports and expanding community participation in sports. This, in turn, positively impacts the development of talent identification across various sports, particularly shooting.

He described the championship as a successful national model of integration between sports authorities and supporting institutions in discovering talent and developing champions. This is achieved by providing a sustainable professional environment that helps athletes develop technically and mentally, paving the way for long-term development programs and national teams, in line with the UAE's vision of investing in sporting talent.

“Future Shooters” initiative supports long-term development

For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Suhail Al Neyadi, President of the UAE Shooting Federation, stated that the Shooting Talents Championship represents one of the most important milestones within the "Future Shooters" initiative and the UAE Shooting Development Program. He explained that the overwhelming response to the championship underscores the success of the "Future Shooters" initiative in reaching a wide range of young people interested in shooting sports, and confirms the importance of continuing to develop talent identification programs according to a comprehensive scientific and professional vision.

He emphasised that the UAE Shooting Development Program aims to build an integrated system that begins with discovering talent at an early age, progresses through technical and competitive development, and culminates in preparing champions to compete and achieve success in the name of the UAE at various regional and international events.
