Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department of Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs is participating in the 14th edition of "Sharjah Children's Reading Festival" (SCRF) organised by the Sharjah Book Authority at the Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme “Train Your Brain”, whereas the department provides a programme of initiatives, and awareness interactive workshops aimed at spreading health awareness among all members of society in general and promoting children's health culture in particular.
This year, the department was keen to present awareness programmes in an innovative way through recreational activities that attract children to raise their awareness of current health issues. The department also presents many awareness workshops, through interactive games, on the importance of eating healthy meals, as well as raising parents awareness on smart shopping techniques with the aim of enhancing their physical health and ensuring their protection from resulting from foodstuffs that contain large quantities of sugar that would harm health.
Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, confirmed that the department is keen to organise an educational programme of an entertaining nature that combines games and education, raising children awareness on health education, which develops children's personality and enhances their self-confidence.
Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saif, added that the department is keen to be present and participate in different cultural and social events, to enhance channels of communication with all members of society to deliver awareness messages.
Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saif noted that that the participation in SCRF comes in line with the visions and directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, which aims to provide awareness and innovative initiatives to raise health awareness among the residents of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE in general.
The department pavilion includes a special section to display educational programmes and films for children, as well as a section for interactive games such as “My healthy Dish” and the “Smart Shopper”.
The department also displays awareness and educational brochures published by the department and health affiliated with the administration and health associations keen to raise awareness on diseases and methods of treatment.
Throughout SCRF, the platform introduces the most important programmes implemented by the department such as nutritional counseling.
Health associations such as Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), Friends of Arthritis Patients Society (FAPS), Friends of Kidney Patients Association, Breastfeeding Friends Association, and Diabetes Friends Association, also introduce their most important programmes and initiatives.
