Sharjah24: Security awareness workshops in Sharjah's City Centre Al Zahia, part of the "Join Us to Prevent It" programme, have continued. Colonel Ahmad Al Sarkal took part in a roundtable discussion on the fifth day of the campaign titled "Media Content Industry and Its Role in Drug Prevention."
The programme was developed by the Ministry of the Interior and the Sharjah Police to increase community involvement in the fight against drug-related disinformation. The workshops in City Centre Al Zahia will go through this next Saturday, June 10.
Colonel Ahmad Al Sarkal, Director-General of Police Operations at the Sharjah Police, spoke on the force's ongoing efforts to battle the drug crisis and the value of public education in maintaining social order.
Mohammed Issa Al Khashf, a member of the Federal National Council; Major Ahmad bin Rabia, Deputy Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at the Sharjah Police; and Captain Ahmad Al Hammadi, Director of the Press and Publishing Branch at the Sharjah Police Department, all took part in the session, which was moderated by First Lieutenant Saud Bousaim.
The negative effects of drugs on both mental and physical health were explored, as well as the efforts of families, institutions of higher learning, and the media to educate the public about the issue, as well as the difficulties encountered by the media content business in the era of pervasive electronic communication.
They discussed how to categorise drug awareness news, how far anti-drug messaging can go, and how to motivate local communities to join in on the fight.
From 4 to 10 PM every day, people can stop by the "Join Us to Prevent It" platform at City Centre Al Zahia. It has a children's section with fun portions intermingled with awareness messages to establish a sense of security in this age range, as well as a debate room, educational seminars, artificial intelligence laboratories, and more.
