Sharjah24: The General Secretariat of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has just wrapped up a 4-day workshop that saw much productive discussions and brainstorming as part of the Development of Government Services project, aimed at redesigning and developing government services in the emirate.
The workshop was aimed at developing a future vision for installing signs and determining levels in the Department of Planning and Survey in Sharjah. As part of the project, the SEC General Secretariat studied the customers’ experience of a number of government services in order to improve and develop them according to the highest standards of quality and speed of delivery.

A number of sections of the Department of Planning and Survey and the Sharjah City Municipalityc, strategic partners in the first phase of the targeted service, attended the workshop. In their discussions, participants in the workshop relied on service data and field studies, which helped identify the current state of government services and their challenges.

These comprehensive exchanges sought to explore innovative solutions to challenges within a future model of service with the help of modern technologies employed in the Emirate. They recommended facilitating procedures and accelerating their implementation in order to achieve customer satisfaction.

Representatives from the Departments of Planning and Survey, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Strategic Planning, and the Information Centre participated in the 4-day workshop. Representatives from the Building Materials Laboratory, Engineering Department, and Information Technology Department of Sharjah Municipality also took part in the insightful exchanges.

The discussions focused on the various stages of the services provided in a detailed manner. Participants were able to come together to design an initial model for it, and identify the best practices and mechanisms for implementing the service in line with Sharjah’s strategy for customer happiness and promoting growth and development.

The discussions on the development model of the service and its outcomes were led by HE Engineer Hamad bin Juma Al Shamsi, Head of the Department of Planning and Survey, HE Asma Rashid bin Taliah, Secretary General of the Sharjah Executive Council, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Digital Office, and Engineer Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director of Technical Services at the Sharjah City Municipality.

In order to achieve the slogan of the Development of Government Services project, “Together for Better Services”, the SEC General Secretariat has been undertaking such administrative laboratories and workshops that bring together the public and private sectors to redesign and develop priority services in a number of government institutions and departments. They are based on studying the condition of existing government services, developing future visions and implementing them within a specific and precise timetable.
