Sharjah24: Dr Fadi Aloul, Dean of the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), has been appointed Chair of the UAE Engineering Deans Council.

The council brings together deans of engineering, information technology, and computer science programmes from universities across the UAE, acting as a national platform to advance engineering education, research, and academic standards.

Driving collaboration and national impact

Established in 2012 under the Society of Engineers – UAE, the council aims to share best practices, support accreditation excellence, promote collaborative research, and strengthen engagement with industry, government, and international organisations. As Chair for a two-year term, Dr Aloul will coordinate council activities, lead strategic initiatives, and improve collaboration among UAE engineering colleges to support the country’s development as a knowledge-based economy.

Academic leadership and global recognition

As Dean of AUS College of Engineering, Dr Aloul supervises more than 2,800 students and leads a diverse range of academic, research, and industry partnership initiatives. He is an internationally recognised scholar with over 160 publications, a US patent, and several prestigious awards, and has consistently been ranked among the world’s top scientists.
