Emergency plans activated
The authority confirmed that all emergency plans and operations centres have been activated, with reinforced field deployment of civil defence teams working around the clock. It has also ensured the readiness of specialised equipment and vehicles used to deal with the effects of heavy rainfall, including boats, amphibious vehicles, and water pumping and drainage equipment.
Coordination and rapid intervention
In a statement to Sharjah24, Brigadier General bin Harmoul said the authority is working in full coordination with relevant government entities under a comprehensive plan based on advance preparedness and swift intervention. All civil defence centres are on full alert, with intensified patrols in areas likely to be affected by water accumulation or valley run-off.
Rescue teams and public safety
He added that specialised rescue teams have been equipped with the latest technologies to respond immediately to vehicles trapped in floodwaters and to rescue occupants. He also stressed the authority’s readiness to implement pre-emptive evacuation plans, in coordination with concerned entities, should conditions require it, particularly in coastal or low-lying areas, to protect residents’ safety.
Call for public cooperation
Brigadier General bin Harmoul urged the public to adhere to safety instructions, warning against approaching flood channels,standingwater, or attempting to cross flooded roads due to the serious risks they pose to lives and property.
Community cooperation essential
He concluded by emphasising that community safety is a top priority for Sharjah Civil Defence, noting that public cooperation and compliance with official guidance play a vital role in minimising the impact of weather fluctuations and ensuring everyone’s safety.
