FNC and Japan discuss boosting cooperation

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), received Keiichi Iwamoto, Assistant Minister and Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was attended by Sara Mohammed Falaknaz, FNC Member.

Strength of UAE–Japan relations

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strength of the strategic and historical relations between the UAE and Japan, which are based on shared interests and mutual respect.

Expanding bilateral cooperation

The discussions focused on ways to further enhance cooperation across various sectors, particularly in advanced technology, innovation, the economy, energy, and space.

Advancing the strategic partnership

Both sides emphasised their commitment to advancing the UAE–Japan strategic partnership toward broader horizons, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports growth and prosperity for both peoples.

Role of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

The two sides praised the efforts made by officials from both countries to conclude the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, highlighting its importance in strengthening the strategic partnership between the UAE and Japan.

Parliamentary cooperation and diplomacy

The meeting also reviewed mechanisms to enhance cooperation and communication between the FNC and the Japanese Parliament, particularly in regional and international parliamentary participation. Both sides stressed that strengthening parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in supporting bilateral relations and building bridges of cooperation between peoples.
