Abdullah Al Suwaidi: SSTF starts on December 29

Sharjah 24: Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Scout Commission's Board of Directors and General Supervisor of the Sharjah Scout Theatre Festival (SSTF), stated that the festival is inspired by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and patron of the scouting and theatre movements.

He explained that the festival will take place on December 29 and will last two days at the Sharjah Scouts Commission, in collaboration with the Theatre Department at the Department of Culture, with the goal of supporting the national theatre movement by nurturing promising directors, actors, and photographers.

In statements to Sharjah 24, Al Suwaidi stated that the commission, in collaboration with the department, has assisted participants with workshops and training courses held throughout the year. He mentioned that the judging panel will consist of Dr Mohammed Youssef, Yahya Al Badri, and Magdy Mahfouz, who will judge the theatrical acts.

Over the course of two days, five scout groups will create ten short theatrical acts in competition for three major awards: Best Troupe, Best Collective Performance, and Jury's Encouragement Award. The organising committee has additionally designated four extra prizes to be announced immediately following the performances during the festival: Best Idea, Best Stage Adaptation, Best Scenography and Best Four Actors
