Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Consultative Council’s (SCC) Office Board held its meeting as part of the third regular session of the eleventh legislative term. The meeting focused on discussing upcoming parliamentary plans and the Council's agenda for the remainder of 2026, aiming to enhance parliamentary performance and meet the demands of comprehensive development in the Emirate.

Organisational and technical aspects

The meeting, held on Thursday at Bait Elowal in Sharjah, was chaired by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of SCC. At the outset, the Office members reviewed the organisational and technical aspects of continuing the session's work, the topics on the agenda, and the necessary coordination with the relevant committees.

Continuing SCC legislative and oversight role

The Office members discussed the continuation of parliamentary work and the issues affecting citizens. During the meeting, His Excellency Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi affirmed the Council's commitment to continuing its legislative and oversight role with efficiency and responsibility, in line with the directives of the wise leadership and the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah to enhance institutional work and consolidate the principles of transparency and integration among authorities.

Developing parliamentary work

Al Nuaimi expressed his pride in the efforts of the Council members, its various committees, and the General Secretariat, noting the importance of focusing in the coming period on continuing to discuss issues that directly affect citizens and working to develop parliamentary work mechanisms to contribute to raising the level of performance and achieving the desired positive impact.

Achieving greater integration and coordination

The meeting reviewed the Council's parliamentary plans, which included organising public sessions, discussing the policies of several government departments and bodies, submitting parliamentary questions, and following up on proposals and complaints received from members and the public, with the aim of achieving greater integration and coordination between the work of the Council and government agencies in the Emirate. The meeting concluded by emphasising the importance of adhering to the approved agenda and strengthening coordination between the Bureau and parliamentary committees. This coordination aims to ensure thorough preparation for upcoming sessions and the achievement of the Council's legislative and oversight objectives during the current session, serving the public interest and meeting the aspirations of the people of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Participants in the meeting included members of the Office who are heads of standing committees, such as: Mohammed Ali Jaber Al Hammadi, Head of the Legislative, Legal, Appeals, Proposals, and Complaints Committee; Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Head of the Education, Youth, Culture, and Media Affairs Committee; Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi, Head of the Recommendations Drafting Committee; and Dr  Ruqaya Rashid Al Zaabi, Head of the Health, Labor, and Social Affairs Committee. Several other Council members also attended, along with Mira Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Secretary-General of the Council and Rapporteur of the Office, and Amina Baslaib and Saif bin Suwaif Al Ketbi from the Council's General Secretariat.
