SP holds 1st meeting of 2026 on “Sharjah Healthy Emirate”

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Police (SP) held the first meeting of its Emergency Preparedness and Response Subcommittee for 2026 as part of the Sharjah Healthy Emirate programme. The session focused on planning ahead and improving coordination between government departments to ensure the emirate is ready to respond to emergencies, health crises, and other urgent situations.

The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General Dr Ali Bu Alzoud, Director-General of the General Directorate of Resources and Support Services, member of the Executive Committee for the expansion of healthy cities in Sharjah, and head of the subcommittee for emergency preparedness and response. Attending members included Brigadier General Dr Mohammed Butti Al Hajri, Director of Security Media; Brigadier General Hamad bin Qasmoul, Director of Comprehensive Police Centres; Colonel Rashid Yousif Sandal, Deputy Director of Occupational Safety and Health; Colonel Mohammed Majed Ghabbar, Director of Crises and Disasters Management; Major Ahmed Al Hasani, Director of Strategic Planning Branch; and Assistant Officer Hessa Obaid Belam, Coordination Member.

Key topics on the agenda included establishing an emergency preparedness and response plan, setting objectives, and assigning roles and responsibilities to ensure clarity, coordinated efforts, and the highest levels of readiness in emergency situations across the emirate.

Brigadier General Dr Ali Bu Alzoud emphasised the importance of creating an integrated working system that strengthens public awareness and enhances community responsiveness to emergencies. He highlighted the need for effective management of health crises to reduce risks, promote health and safety, support the goals of the Sharjah Healthy Emirate initiative, and position Sharjah as a global model for health readiness and sustainability.
