Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Kai, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Sharjah Police, said that such dangerous behaviour constitutes a serious violation of traffic laws and undermines public safety, particularly during adverse weather conditions. He noted that these actions disrupted public enjoyment of the rainy weather and posed significant risks on wet roads.
The violations recorded included driving in a manner that endangers lives and public safety, in violation of Article (1-A) of the Federal Traffic Law, which carries a fine of AED 2,000, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days. Additional violations included driving vehicles without number plates, punishable under Article (4) of the same law, with a fine of AED 3,000, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for up to 90 days.
Sharjah Police reaffirmed that adherence to traffic laws is a fundamental pillar in protecting lives and property, emphasising that safe driving reflects societal awareness and responsibility. The public was urged to cooperate by reporting any practices that threaten road safety, calling 999 for emergencies and 901 for non-emergencies, reinforcing the principle of community partnership in maintaining a safe traffic environment.
