Sharjah24: The Rubu’ Qarn Centre for Science and Technology in Sharjah, part of the Rubu’ Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, organised the UAE National VEX Robotics Competition as part of the Technology Station of the Rubu’ Qarn Innovation Season 2026. Now in its fourth edition, the season is themed “Here minds move”.

Held over 31 January and 1 February at Wasit Youth Centre, the competition attracted 280 participants across 57 teams representing 18 educational entities from across the UAE. The event highlighted young people’s growing interest in advanced robotics and their progression from training to internationally recognised professional competitions, in line with the season’s goal of nurturing young minds and transforming scientific knowledge into competitive innovation pathways.

Winners qualify for world championship

Two teams from Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah won the VEX V5 category, while Sharjah Youth and the Canadian International School claimed the VEX IQ title. Design awards went to SABIS International School – Al Bateen and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and Emirates Science Club received two excellence awards. The winning teams qualified for the world championship, scheduled to take place in the United States at the end of April.

Youth-led organisation

The event was managed by young members and graduates of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, with 18 specialised volunteers overseeing organisation, supervision and technical judging, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to empowering national talent to lead scientific events both locally and internationally.
