The move aims to increase the availability of parking spaces, particularly in tourist and high-activity areas, in line with the city’s economic and commercial growth. Other paid parking zones will remain unchanged and will follow only the adjusted schedules during Ramadan.
The municipality stated that the adjustment follows a comprehensive study of parking usage, occupancy rates, and the characteristics of the areas where blue-zone parking is located. The decision also responds to feedback from residents and visitors, particularly as the city continues to experience economic and commercial expansion.
Authorities noted that extending operating hours until midnight will improve access to parking, reduce misuse of spaces, and address the challenges faced by seasonal permit holders and patrons of restaurants and cafés, who often struggle to find parking after 10:00pm.
The municipality confirmed that the new schedule will not increase parking subscription fees. Instead, subscribers will benefit from two additional hours of daily coverage, with permits now providing up to 16 hours of parking, up from the previous 14 hours.
