Sharjah24: Al Qasimia University hosted the Communities Forum under the theme “Where Cultures Meet”, inaugurated by Professor Jamal Al-Turaifi, President of the University, alongside Prof. Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of the University. The event was attended by several ambassadors and consuls accredited to the UAE, faculty and administrative staff, and a large group of students. Guests toured the forum’s pavilions, exploring student exhibits featuring cultural and artistic presentations that highlighted the richness of human and civilisational diversity on campus.
Showcasing student heritage and cultural diversity

The Deanship of Student Affairs organises the forum annually to emphasise the university’s cultural and civilisational diversity, welcoming students from over 136 nationalities. Students presented the history, customs, and traditions of their countries through photos, heritage artefacts, traditional clothing, and cuisine, alongside artistic performances and folk chants, creating an interactive experience that fosters cultural exchange, reinforces values of coexistence and tolerance, and showcases the civilisational heritage of various peoples at Al Qasimia University.

University vision and cultural impact

Professor Dr Awad Al-Khalaf emphasised that the Communities Forum realises the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Founder of the University, in promoting human coexistence and civilisational dialogue. He highlighted the university’s commitment to transforming cultural diversity into a positive energy that supports education and research through initiatives that encourage constructive interaction among students from different backgrounds. Dr Al-Khalaf added that such events help shape students’ personalities, enhance their human awareness, and instil values of tolerance and openness, aligning with the university’s mission to prepare generations equipped with knowledge and an appreciation of global cultures in a spirit of respect and understanding.
