Sharjah24: Engineer Rashid Al Madhani, Project Manager of the Filli Heritage Project at the Sharjah Initiatives Implementation Authority “Mubadara,” announced that His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Filli Heritage Project on Sunday morning.

The project includes Filli Fort and Falaj, the Heritage Souq, a petting farm, a coffee house and a large plaza for events and activities, making it one of the region’s prominent heritage and tourism projects and a valuable addition to the Central Region’s cultural and social landscape.

Restoration preserves historic fort

Al Madhani said the historic Filli Fort underwent a precise and comprehensive restoration, noting that the work relied on original materials such as stone and burnt clay. This approach restored the fort to its original condition while preserving its architectural and historical significance.

Facilities support community and tourism

He explained that the project includes several vital facilities, including a heritage market featuring 16 shops in a traditional Emirati architectural style to support local commercial activity. The site also includes a petting farm designed as an educational and recreational destination for children, allowing them to interact safely with animals, and a coffee house that tells the story of coffee from its origins to the present day.
