The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere said the quake’s epicenter was near the town of Alenquer, roughly 45 kilometers north of Lisbon, at a depth of 15 kilometers. The tremor occurred shortly after noon, and the institute stated that additional updates would be provided if necessary.
