Sharjah 24: The New York Knicks ended the San Antonio Spurs' winning streak with a 114-89 victory in an NBA game.
The San Antonio Spurs' 11-game winning streak, led by their star French player Victor Wimpanyama, came to an end after their 89-114 loss to the New York Knicks in an NBA game.

Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson led balanced offensive attack

The matchup between the second-ranked team in the Western Conference and the third-ranked team in the Eastern Conference lived up to expectations, starting with a bang in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd. Wimpanyama redeemed himself after a lacklustre performance in his last two games, scoring 25 points, adding 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 blocks.

The Spurs quickly built a 12-point lead, spearheaded by the towering Frenchman (2.26 m), but the home team finished the first quarter strong and continued their dominance in the second, scoring 26 points to the Knicks' two. The visitors were unable to turn the tide, recording their lowest scoring output of the season.

The Spurs struggled with three-pointers, making only 9 of 33 attempts (27.3%). They also failed to counter the Knicks' energy, particularly on defence, committing 22 turnovers, 7 of which were to 22-year-old Wimpanyama.

Securing a significant win in Eastern Conference play

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 24 points, while his teammate Mikal Bridges was the Knicks' top scorer with 25 points, thanks to his accurate three-point shooting (5 of 9).

Substitute rookie Mohamed Diarra (20 years old) also shone, scoring 14 points and grabbing 4 rebounds for the Knicks, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds among six players who scored 10 points or more.
