Dr Salem Al Doubi, director of religious guidance at the department, informed Sharjah 24 that Hajj is primarily a spiritual undertaking, and the right company can significantly impact the experience.
"Choose companions who will help you perform the rituals with calm and peace of mind," he said, adding that pilgrims should keep their intentions clear and focused on God throughout the journey.
Al Doubi praised the department's efforts to prepare pilgrims ahead of their departure, pointing to a series of lectures, lessons and guidance materials run in collaboration with relevant bodies across the emirate. Staff from the department also see pilgrims off at Sharjah International Airport, where they answer questions, offer guidance, and hand out educational gifts—a gesture, he said, that leaves a lasting impression on those heading to Mecca.
He urged pilgrims to respect both religious and administrative instructions and to work with Hajj authorities and official delegations on the ground — steps he said would make the journey smoother for everyone.
This year's Hajj begins on 25 May, with pilgrims from across the UAE among those heading to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage.
