The award pointed out that happiness is not merely an individual feeling, but rather the product of an integrated system of giving and social responsibility. This is clearly embodied in the volunteer initiatives witnessed in the Emirate of Sharjah, where volunteers contribute their efforts to serving various segments of society and supporting humanitarian and social initiatives.
SAVW explained that since its inception, the award has worked to motivate individuals and institutions to adopt volunteer work as a way of life, through an integrated system of categories targeting various segments of society. These categories include individuals, government entities, private institutions, and civil society organisations, in addition to categories for volunteer initiatives and opportunities. This promotes inclusive participation and allows everyone to contribute to spreading a culture of giving.
SAVW emphasised that the diversity of the award categories contributes to highlighting inspiring role models and honouring outstanding efforts, whether by individuals or institutions. This fosters a sense of satisfaction and happiness among both volunteers and beneficiaries, and encourages the sustainability of volunteer work as a deeply rooted societal value.
The award added that establishing a culture of volunteering positively impacts quality of life and raises community happiness indicators, in line with the UAE's vision of making happiness a way of life and a key component of its sustainable development plans.
In recent years, the award has witnessed remarkable development in terms of the diversity of its categories, the expansion of participation, and the increased participation of youth and new volunteers. This clearly indicates a growing societal awareness of the importance of volunteer work as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and the strengthening of social cohesion.
The award has also contributed to developing the concept of volunteer initiatives within governmental, private, and non-profit organisations by offering innovative volunteer opportunities that respond to volunteers' interests and passions, thus enhancing the quality and continuity of participation.
SAVW affirms its continued pioneering role in supporting and empowering voluntary work, and inviting various segments of society to actively participate in its initiatives, given their profound impact on spreading happiness and building a more cohesive and prosperous society.
