Fuel truck explosion near Panama Canal leaves one dead

The incident took place at a fuel supply facility next to the bridge spanning the Panama Canal. Security footage showed a large fireball and dense smoke rising from the site after the explosion.

According to firefighter Chief Victor Alvarez, the victim is believed to have been working at the facility. Two firefighters responding to the scene sustained minor injuries.

The Panama Canal Authority confirmed that operations at the canal were unaffected by the blast.

Authorities temporarily closed the Bridge of the Americas following the incident, with inspections scheduled to assess any potential structural damage.
