The programme offers a space where poetry intersects with journalism, highlighting modern Moroccan poetry and its connections to other creative fields, including visual arts, theatre, cinema, and storytelling. This third edition continues the initiative’s mission of exploring these cross-disciplinary intersections while promoting new poetic voices.
A special tribute will honor Abdellatif Benhiya, born in Tangier in 1953, for his decades-long contribution to poetry and broadcasting. Benhiya became widely known through his programs on Radio Tangier from the 1980s to the early 2000s, including Circle of Light, Pleasure and Companionship, Images from the Countryside, and Good Morning, Sea. He is also the author of poetry collections such as Storms of Sorrow and Joy (1974) and The Walls, and has received recognition at national and Arab festivals, including Morocco's Grand National Press Award in 2017.
Fatima Al Baroudi, a senior media professional and poet, has served as news director at Morocco’s first television channel and as a member of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication. She holds a doctorate in public law and political sciences with research focusing on Arab satellite media.
Widad Benmousa, from Ksar El Kebir, is known for her contemporary poetic voice, blending poetry with visual arts, photography, and journalism. Her collections include Root in the Air, Between Two Clouds, A Storm in a Body, and The Heart, Free.
Mohammed Belmou, from Beni Ammar Zerhoun, brings works such as The Salmon's Follies (co-written with Abdelatif Jamil), Ashes of Certainty, A Black Button to Kill Spring, and Palestinians, reflecting his commitment to poetry as a vehicle for human values and free expression.
The Marrakech Poetry House, now in its ninth cultural season, continues to nurture diverse voices and generations of Moroccan poets through programmes like Poet-Journalists, Poet-Visual Artists, Poet-Storytellers, and Poet-Theatre Makers, strengthening the future of Moroccan poetry.
