Sharjah24 - WAM : Four people have died and more than 30,000 others have been displaced after several days of heavy rainfall across the Dominican Republic, caused by a low-pressure system.

Widespread damage and disruption

According to the country’s Emergency Operations Centre, the severe weather damaged over 6,000 homes and forced thousands to leave their residences. It also disrupted access to drinking water for more than one million people and left 28 areas isolated.

Authorities have placed 28 of the country’s 32 provinces on alert in response to the situation.
