Sharjah24: Asma Samir Al Khudairi, Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Programme at the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), stated that the programme organised a brainstorming workshop on Thursday at the Holy Quran Academy, focusing on services provided to senior citizens. The workshop saw wide participation from senior citizens and representatives from various Sharjah government entities, as part of efforts to develop initiatives and services for this group.

Strategic vision for 2027–2029

Al Khudairi confirmed in statements to Sharjah 24 that the workshop aimed to generate ideas and develop new initiatives and activities targeting seniors within the programme’s 2027–2029 strategic plan, contributing to enhancing age-friendly quality of life and improving service standards for this important segment of society.

Comprehensive approach

She added that the workshop aligns with the eight domains of the global age-friendly cities programme, including housing, transportation, social services, and healthcare, among others. This reflects the programme’s commitment to adopting a comprehensive vision that responds to the diverse needs of senior citizens.

Enhancing quality of life

Al Khudairi concluded by emphasising that the initiative supports the objectives of the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Programme and the Department of Social Services, aiming to advance services for seniors and provide an age-friendly quality of life that enhances their participation, wellbeing, and stability within society.
