Sociological Association discusses transformations of family

Sharjah24: Sociological Association, in partnership with the Sharjah Parents Council, is organising a specialised scientific forum titled “Our Family… The Fabric of Our Life: Scientific Readings on the Transformations of the Contemporary Emirati Family.” This comes within the framework of the declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family, and in alignment with national directions aimed at strengthening family cohesion and reinforcing the family’s position as the fundamental pillar in building society and sustaining its development.

Theme and objectives of the forum

The forum carries the slogan: “Because our family is the fabric of our life… we read its reality to shape its future.” It will be held on the morning of Saturday, April 18, at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage. The event reflects a scientific approach to examining the social and digital transformations affecting the Emirati family, and analysing their impact on lifestyles, upbringing, and family interaction patterns.

Supporting research and policymaking

The organisation of this forum stems from the scientific and professional role of the Social Workers Association in supporting applied scientific research and strengthening its connection to societal issues. This contributes to supporting social decision-making and developing policies and initiatives aimed at empowering families and enhancing their stability.
