Tour of exhibition showcases innovation in agriculture
During the visit, Their Highnesses toured exhibition pavilions highlighting advancements in modern agriculture, including climate-resilient farming solutions, food industries, and innovative technologies aimed at enhancing local production and food security.
They also visited university, startup, government, and private sector zones, in addition to the Farmers’ Market showcasing local crops, honey, date products, and for the first time, dedicated spaces for Emirati women farmers, young farmers, livestock owners, and marine resources.
Leadership emphasis on food security and sustainability
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed stressed that the UAE’s agricultural sector is evolving under the leadership’s vision, with food security as a top priority. He highlighted the importance of innovation and modern technology in boosting productivity and sustainability, and praised cooperation between government, private sector, and academia.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed underscored the importance of empowering youth and farmers, noting that agricultural development supports national food security and sustainable development goals.
Launch of UAE Good Agricultural Practices initiative
During the opening, Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, announced the launch of the National Project for UAE Good Agricultural Practices (UAE GAP), aimed at improving crop quality and global competitiveness.
The initiative targets certification for 80% of local farms and seeks to establish unified international standards for sustainable agricultural production.
Technology and innovation driving future agriculture
The Minister highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and data in transforming agriculture, improving efficiency, reducing resource use, and strengthening food security.
She noted that the UAE is developing tailored technological solutions to overcome environmental challenges and turn them into opportunities for sustainable growth.
Platform for knowledge, youth, and community engagement
The exhibition features four main tracks covering farming, education, business, and community engagement, bringing together researchers, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs.
It also includes interactive workshops aimed at families and children to promote home farming and sustainability awareness, reinforcing the link between innovation, education, and agriculture.
