The session was moderated by Professor Dr Hisham Zakaria, Dean of the College of Communication, with the participation of His Excellency Brigadier Dr Mohammed Butti Al Hajri, Director of Security Media at Sharjah Police and member of the advisory board of the College of Communication, and Her Excellency Dr Maryam Bin Hadda, Chair of the Sharjah Youth Council.
The dialogue addressed several key themes, including the role of youth in strengthening community response, the importance of media in managing information and spreading awareness, as well as highlighting inspiring models of youth initiatives that had a tangible impact in supporting society. The session provided an enriching space for discussion and exchange of experiences.
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Butti Al Hajri stressed the importance of integration between institutions and youth, noting that youth awareness and commitment are a fundamental pillar in strengthening social responsibility, particularly during times of challenge. He also highlighted the importance of young people confronting rumours and misinformation responsibly, and their ability to deal with crises with flexibility and speed in line with contemporary demands. He further explained that security media relies on a genuine partnership with youth to disseminate accurate awareness messages and enhance community safety.
This vision reflects Al Qasimia University’s approach to embedding the concept of community partnership by preparing aware students capable of engaging with national issues and contributing to spreading awareness within and beyond the university environment.
Dr Maryam Bin Hadda affirmed that young people possess significant energy and innovative capabilities that enable them to play a central role in various circumstances. She emphasised the importance of empowering them and involving them in community initiatives to help build a more cohesive society that is better able to respond to challenges. She also presented successful examples of youth initiatives that played an effective role in supporting society during exceptional circumstances.
The session concluded with strong interaction from attendees, who raised questions and contributions reflecting their awareness and interest. They highlighted the importance of such meetings in enhancing their experience and developing their sense of social responsibility. The session was attended by Professor Dr Suleiman Al Saraireh, Dean of Student Affairs, Ms Ahlam Bin Jarsh, Assistant Director of the university for student affairs, the Deanship’s working team, and a large number of university students.
