Bin Theneya stated that the United Arab Emirates stresses the importance of any settlement being based on consideration of the rights of affected countries, guaranteeing their security, and achieving a balance that supports regional and international stability.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC, during her participation in the 1st Summit of Speakers and Presidents of Parliament of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Member and Partner States in Budva, Montenegro, she emphasised that parliamentary diplomacy reflects the ability of parliamentary institutions to respond responsibly to challenges through coordination, dialogue, and clear positions that promote security and stability.
She stressed that the unprovoked Iranian terrorist attacks targeting the UAE, Gulf Arab states, and Jordan constitute a violation of international law and a direct threat to sovereignty, civilian infrastructure, maritime security, and regional and international stability, with wider impacts on global energy and supply chains.
She affirmed that parliamentary diplomacy has become a key line of defence for state stability and the resilience of democratic institutions, calling for constructive cooperation and shared responsibility in addressing regional challenges.
Bin Theneya noted that the conference brings together parliamentary leaders from Mediterranean and Gulf states for the first time under PAM, marking a step toward enhanced joint parliamentary action amid growing political and security challenges.
She concluded by stressing the need for clear, balanced, and responsible parliamentary positions to strengthen stability, contain tensions, and reinforce the international order in the face of rapid regional developments.
