Dibba Al Hisn Municipality launches 46th Tree Planting Week

Sharjah 24: Dibba Al Hisn Municipality launched its 46th annual Tree Planting Week in the city, a week-long initiative under the slogan "Together... Let's Plant the UAE." The event aims to raise community awareness about the importance of tree planting and the role of community members in increasing green spaces and preserving native plants, while also enhancing the city's aesthetic appeal.

Tree planting at the city's children's centre

This year's activities were launched at the Children's Centre in the city, in line with the building's modern design and its need for green spaces that reflect the values of sustainability and environmental stewardship. During the event, the area surrounding the centre was planted, and its green spaces were enhanced with the participation of attendees.

The event was attended by His Excellency Dr Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Food Diversity Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment; His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Yarouf Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Dibba Al Hisn Municipal Council; His Excellency Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality; and a number of directors of government institutions operating in the city.

Promoting sustainability

Khadija Najib Al Nuaimi, Director of the Agriculture Department at the municipality, provided a detailed explanation of the importance of afforestation and the department's role in expanding green spaces in the city, emphasising the municipality's commitment to agricultural plans that support plant diversity and sustainability.

Opening of Family Park 2

In celebration of the "Year of the Family," launched by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Dibba Al Hisn Municipality inaugurated Family Park 2, which was designed as an integrated space that aligns with the UAE's vision of promoting family values and quality of life.

The park includes a variety of facilities and services, such as children's play areas, expansive green spaces, public seating, and other amenities designed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all family members, reflecting the focus on family well-being and its fundamental role in building society.

The UAE, leader in afforestation

His Excellency Dr Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi stated: "The UAE has always been and will remain at the forefront of countries that prioritise afforestation and increasing green spaces, in line with the wise leadership's vision of promoting environmental sustainability. National Afforestation Week aims to instill a culture of agriculture among all segments of society and encourage their active participation in protecting the environment and supporting biodiversity."

For his part, His Excellency Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai affirmed: "Dibba Al Hisn Municipality is committed to implementing quality initiatives that enhance the city's aesthetic appeal and support national efforts to increase green spaces. The launch of Tree Planting Week and the opening of Family Park 2 embody the municipality's efforts to provide well-equipped family facilities and natural spaces that contribute to the well-being of residents and improve their quality of life.
