Sharjah24: In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability and expanding green areas, Dibba Al Hisn Municipality continued implementing a series of agricultural and landscaping projects between January and April 2026. These initiatives are designed to improve quality of life and reinforce the city’s environmental identity through the expansion of tree planting across residential and public areas.
Extensive planting and biodiversity enhancement

As part of efforts to enhance plant diversity, more than 55,000 seedlings of flowers and ground cover plants were planted, including 44,850 seasonal flowers. This contributed significantly to improving the visual harmony of the city’s landscapes. The overall agricultural output during the period also included the planting of dozens of trees, 7,616 shrubs, and various other plant species, reflecting a substantial expansion of green spaces and biodiversity across multiple locations.

Integrated environmental planning

Khadeeja Najeeb, Director of the Agriculture Department at Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, stated that these efforts are part of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at building a sustainable green system based on best agricultural practices and modern irrigation and resource management techniques. She noted that the municipality consistently selects plant species suited to the local environment to ensure sustainable growth and reduce water consumption.

She added that the agricultural projects in Dibba Al Hisn go beyond aesthetic improvement, representing an integrated vision to enhance environmental balance and quality of life. This is achieved by creating green spaces that help improve the local climate, provide a healthy environment for residents and visitors, support biodiversity, and reinforce the concept of sustainability in municipal work.

Long-term vision for a greener city

His Excellency Talib Abdullah, Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, said these achievements reflect the municipality’s commitment to the directives of the Sharjah Ruler in making sustainable development a core principle across all projects. He noted that expanding green areas is a strategic priority aimed at enhancing the city’s attractiveness and improving overall quality of life.

He added that the municipality continues to implement its landscaping and agricultural plans according to a long-term vision based on innovation in farming methods and the use of advanced irrigation and plant care technologies. He emphasised that every tree and flower in Dibba Al Hisn forms part of a broader civilisational project aimed at making the city a model for environmental sustainability and balanced urban planning, in line with the emirate’s aspirations for a greener and higher-quality future.

Completion reflecting successful implementation

The agricultural works concluded during this period with results that reflect the success of the municipality’s implementation plans in enhancing vegetation cover and beautifying the city. This contributes to strengthening Dibba Al Hisn’s position as a sustainable city that combines urban development with green nature within an integrated system.
