The event was held at the public park in Al Madinah Al Fadilah with the aim of strengthening family cohesion and reinforcing positive social values. It forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to support the family as the cornerstone of society, in line with the UAE’s broader social development goals.
The programme featured a range of educational, recreational and awareness activities, including group family competitions involving cultural questions, challenges and physical games. Children also took part in dedicated activities such as an art corner titled “My Family, My Happiness”, a family photography area, and an interactive mural named “What Family Means to Me”.
Participants additionally received gifts and cards promoting positive family values.
Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, said the event reflects the Year of the Family initiative announced by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also noted that it coincides with Sharjah receiving renewed recognition as a Child Friendly City from UNICEF under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Yahyai said the recognition reflects the strong commitment shown by both the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah towards supporting families and children and creating a sustainable, supportive social environment.
He added that organising the “Together We Build a Connected Family” event demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to strengthening family ties and promoting social solidarity, stressing that the family remains the solid foundation of a cohesive and prosperous society. He also noted that the municipality continues to launch quality community initiatives aligned with the country’s vision for supporting families and children.
