SCHS promotes inclusion of persons with disabilities in society

Sharjah24: Mona Abdullah Karam, Director of the Khorfakkan Branch of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) , stated that the City organised a dialogue session to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in the presence of Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SCHS. The session was held under the theme “To Promote Inclusive Communities for the Social Development of Persons with Disabilities.”

Equal recreation in inclusive environments

Mona Abdullah Karam, Director of the Khorfakkan Branch of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, explained in an exclusive statement to Sharjah 24 that the session saw wide participation from social, educational, economic, and media institutions. It discussed the rights of persons with disabilities to recreation and their aspirations to enhance their integration into society, in addition to presenting recommendations to support inclusive recreational programmes at the national level.

Recommendations that support the rights of persons with disabilities

Karam added that participants reviewed their perspectives on practices that enhance the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in recreational activities within the community, and presented recommendations that contribute to supporting their rights and developing inclusive programmes across the country.
