The campaign is being held at 06 Mall in Sharjah from 12 to 15 March, aiming to cover the tuition fees of 509 students with disabilities who are eligible for zakat funds according to Islamic guidelines.
Al Awadhi told “Sharjah24” that the organisation has conducted its zakat campaign annually since 1989, reflecting its longstanding belief in the importance of community support for students with disabilities facing financial hardship.
This year’s campaign aims to raise AED12,360,066 to support students’ educational expenses. Al Awadhi clarified that the funds will be allocated directly to pay the tuition fees of the 509 eligible students, ensuring they can continue to benefit from the educational and rehabilitation services offered by SCHS.
He added that the campaign also serves as an open invitation for individuals and institutions to donate their zakat and charitable funds to support students with disabilities in continuing their education. The campaign’s theme, he stated, underscores a clear humanitarian message: zakat can genuinely and sustainably improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families, whilst reinforcing the values of compassion and solidarity within society.
